Accelerator Operator

Position

TRIUMF, Canada's particle accelerator centre, is seeking an entry‑level accelerator operator to join its diverse team in the control room.

Responsibilities

• Operate and monitor accelerator systems in a fast‑paced control‑room environment, safely, reliably, and timely delivering particle beams to experiments.
• Respond to alarms from ancillary systems, including electro‑mechanical devices, cooling services, vacuum equipment, power supplies, and computer controls.
• Identify and troubleshoot accelerator system faults.
• Assist with emergency response activities and ensure site security protocols are maintained.
• Mitigate radiation hazards using ALARA (As Low As Reasonably Achievable) principles.
• Communicate effectively with researchers, engineers, and support staff to ensure smooth operations.
• Document shift activities in logbooks and produce statistical records.
