Summary This is a Direct Hire Authority (DHA) solicitation utilizing the DHA for Certain Personnel of the DoD Workforce to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service. About the Position: Serves as a 2nd Assistant Engineer on a Class I diesel/electric powered pipeline dredge (18 discharge and over). The incumbent will be responsible for the operation, maintenance, and repair of all engine room. Responsibilities Maintain continuous operating efficiency to prevent damage to machinery. Check and control operation of heating, refrigerating, plumbing, and water supply for the dredge. Observe gages such as pressure gages, vacuum gages, fuel oil gages, tachometers, pyrometers, etc., to determine the proper functioning of machinery. Repair engine room machinery as outlined by Chief Engineer and/or technical specifications. Repair fuel lines, grinding valves, cylinders, pistons, and shears in auxiliary pumps and machinery.
